- eDiscovery Counsel
Description
Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP is hiring eDiscovery Counsel to support high-stakes class action and mass tort litigation. The role involves advising the firm’s attorneys on complex discovery issues, including counseling on search methodologies, document and data preservation, collection, review and analytics, validation, and production; negotiating electronically stored information protocols, protective orders, and other discovery protocols; and drafting briefs related to discovery disputes in various litigation contexts. The role also involves helping drive the growth of the firm’s AI governance practice, including consulting with firm leadership on emerging AI regulatory frameworks and potential AI technological solutions for business needs. Finally, the role involves attending meetings of e-discovery governance and advisory bodies such as The Sedona Conference and advocating for fairness in e-discovery rules, principles, and advisory notes. The position requires extensive experience in eDiscovery, strong litigation and internal stakeholder counseling skills, and proven expertise with AI litigation technologies.

The eDiscovery Counsel will have the opportunity to:
- Support high-stakes litigation and help drive the growth of the firm’s AI governance practice
- Advise internal stakeholders on challenging and complex discovery issues, providing thought leadership and expertise
- Draft briefs and participate in negotiating protocols
- Plan and assist in the implementation of discovery and document protocols and workflows
Qualified candidates will demonstrate:
- Excellent academic credentials preferred
- At least seven years of previous extensive hands-on experience in eDiscovery
- Strong complex litigation skills
- Proven expertise with AI tools to manage large, complex data sets, including for litigation needs; experience with AI tools for business solutions is a plus

Location: San Francisco preferred, but remote will be considered for the right candidate.

Compensation: The salary for the role ranges from $175,000 to $225,000 depending on location and years of experience. We also offer an excellent benefits package, including comprehensive health benefits, generous paid annual vacation, parental leave, and a profit-sharing retirement fund.
